Gr. 2-5. The third title in the Judy Moody series finds the spunky third-grader in a save-the-world mood. Judy would like to enter an adhesive bandage design contest, but she doesn't have any ideas. Then a class environmental preservation project inspires her creativity, as well as a new mission. But it's not long before Judy discovers that saving the world isn't easy, whether she is trying to convince her father not to drink rainforest bean coffee or her mom to dispose of a rubber toilet plunger. However, Judy persists, and while bandage-art fame eludes her, she does come up with a class recycling project that makes a difference. It also puts her in a very good mood. This charming read features characteristically snappy, humorous prose; expressive, witty, black-and-white illustrations; and some great ideas for classroom or home projects. The book stands alone, but fans will enjoy familiar, distinctive characters and references from previous titles. Shelle Rosenfeld

A Smart and Funny Book
My seven year old daughter loved this book, and I did, too. There was a lot of humor, and my daughter was laughing out loud to parts of it. One thing I appreciated was that the book doesn't talk down to kids, the way I think the "Junie B. Jones" books do (by using improper grammar and words like "bestest" to seem cute). Highly recommended!
Judy Moody Saves the World
Judy Moody Saves the World, by Megan McDonald, is a great book about a girl who wants to make a difference in the world. Children will love this book because it contains so many feelings and ideas that they can relate to in their everyday lives. Judy Moody is your typical third grade student and sister who takes things to extremes. She is intrigued by science, and she is destined to save the world no matter what she has to do! Judy Moody enters contests, fights for endangered species, and comes up with a great idea to save the rain forest. She does all of these things because she has enough courage to stand up for what she believes in. You will find humor in every chapter. I even laughed out loud as I read the story. I think seven, eight, and nine year olds would enjoy this book very much!

Judy Moody Saves the World
In all the Judy Moody books Judy has a mood for everything. In this wonderful tale of Judy she is in the mood to create a "Crazy Stripe" (band-aid) so that millions of people over the world could wear her work of art. That dream soon fades when one day at school, Judy's teacher in class T3 starts teaching them about recycling and endangered species. Judy starts to think about recycling and saving the world. Judy gets so involved with saving the world by recycling that she gets her entire class motivated to help. Class T3 starts to collect bottles to recycle. The students in class T3 decided that they will use the money from recycling to help plant new trees in the rain forest. At the end of the book Judy Moody is rewarded for her efforts in helping to save the world in front of her entire school!
This is a wonderfully written book with a great story line. As a teacher this would be a great book to help students understand the importance of recycling and helping save endangered species. Students will not only learn from reading this book, but will also get a laugh out of reading about Judy, her brother Stink, her friends Frank and Rocky, and class T3.
